Children's fun at Wentworth Castle Gardens...

Wentworth Castle Gardens welcomes children.

We have so much to offer from a castle and playground to parkland and gardens, not to mention a host of children's activities on key dates through the year.

Don't forget children under 5 years of age can access the gardens free of charge, when accompanied by an adult.  For those children 5 years plus who will get most benefit from our facilities we strongly recommend our annual Season Ticket.  For most visitors you can cover the cost in just 3 visits!

Season Ticket charges are:  Adult £20, Couple £30, Family (2+2) £40 with additional children only £5 each.

An exciting annual events programme provides a great deal of family fun throughout the year, and includes 'Christmas at the Castle' with a visit to Santa, theatre peformances, trails through the gardens, parkland activities and many more other enjoyable events.

Stainborough Castle is a favourite of all children visiting the gardens. It is a mock castle built on the highest point of the estate. It is thought that the castle was built for the 1st Earl of Strafford's children to use as a play area. The four towers were each named after the 1st Earl's children, Harriet, Anne, Lucy and William, and the insides were each painted a different colour.
