The Azalea Garden is at its best in mid May when the deciduous hybrid azaleas produce spectacular blossom which fills the air with a heady scent. The azaleas are under-planted with bulbs and corms.
There is a Victorian rockery to the rear, which remained buried under rhododendron branches and over 30cm/1ft of leaf litter until clearance work carried out in 1994. This area has been replanted with alpines.
