This spectacular viewpoint over the southern parkland and surrounding countryside, offers views of an obelisk dedicated to Queen Anne to the left and directly ahead, through the pine trees, a monument to the Duke of Argyll.

As part of the restoration, a parkland trail will be established allowing access to these and other mounments, although at present the park is tenanted agricultural land. From Earl's View it will be possible to see The Great South Avenue, which will be replanted with oaks.

Running along the southern edge of the Gardens is a ha-ha, a combination of a sunken wall and dry ditch. The ha-ha enabled a boundary to be formed without a visible fence, allowing greater freedom in landscape design. In the 18th century deer roamed freely in the park; the ha-ha prevented them from entering the Gardens.
