The pavilion known as the Gun Room forms a focal point at the bottom of the Avenue of the Pleasure Grounds and is thought to date from 1732 or earlier. It is believed originally to have been built as a banqueting house and only converted for use as a gun room in the late 19th century.

The building has recently been re-roofed and the very badly eroded sandstone façade repaired. The building is being carefully dried to prevent damp problems and once fully restored, we hope to use the Gun Room to house informative displays on the history of the gardens.
