This lovely folly, built above the south lawn of Wentworth Castle in 1766, was designed to be a summerhouse for the second Earl and his family. Its Corinthian columns echo the architectural style of the Palladian Wing, and the building reflects the 'romantic theme' portrayed in so many images of 18th century life.
In the second Earl's time, the Rotunda temple and Queen Anne's obeslisk would have been visible from the Corinthian Temple along with the three quarter mile long water course, the Serpentine.
