Discover Wentworth Castle

In 1709, Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford (of the 2nd creation) set out to create an estate on a grand scale to eclipse the nearby estate of his cousin and rival at Wentworth Woodhouse.

Wentworth Castle is a Grade I Listed mansion and is now a working college. Unfortunately,the contents of the House were sold off and dispersed in 1948, what remains is an intriguing footprint of former glories.

Throughout the summer, you can enjoy a special guided tour of the House (Wentworth Castle). The tours are led by our expert volunteers and start at 2.30pm and are held regularly until the end of September.

Tour admission

Normal Garden admission applies, plus £2.50 per person for the guided tour of the House. Limited places available therefore booking is advisable on 01226 776040.
